Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Fighters Party

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in influence within the urban setting.

Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to begin their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

With 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.

Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear out of place, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the party understands precisely where to head next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his personal gain, invading the secret base, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.

Casimir then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each member has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
  • The adventurer has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • However, their status as key figures in the powerful family could enable the team reach places they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and Wicander defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the clan.

This results in them few options but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.

Future Episodes

From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group will be absent next week, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Explorers and Planners tables.

Audiences can expect discovering which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on the upcoming Thursday.
